Behaviour Support Services at CRAMLI

Your Partner in Behavioural Interventions

At CRAMLI, we are committed to providing comprehensive Behaviour Support Services that empower individuals to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives. Our services are guided by the NDIS Practice Standards, the Quality and Safeguards Commission, and the NDIS (Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support) Rules 2018. We ensure all work aligns with these standards, promoting safety, dignity, and positive outcomes for participants.

Our Services Include:

Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA): Comprehensive evaluations to understand the triggers and functions of behaviours, forming the foundation of effective Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

Behaviour Support Plans (BSP):

  • Interim BSPs: Developed within 28 days of engagement and submitted on PRODA for authorisation. These plans provide immediate, practical strategies to support participants while a more comprehensive plan is developed.
  • Comprehensive BSPs: Developed within 5 months after the Interim BSP is authorised, these plans involve thorough data collection, analysis, and collaborative strategy development.

Restrictive Practices (RP):

  • Understanding Restrictive Practices: These are interventions that restrict a person’s freedom of movement, rights, or access and include:
  • Seclusion: Confining a person to a space where they cannot leave freely.
  • Physical Restraint: Using physical force to limit movement.
  • Chemical Restraint: Using medication to influence behaviour or movement.
  • Mechanical Restraint: Using devices to limit movement.
  • Environmental Restraint: Restricting access to certain areas or items.
  • Thorough RP Assessments and Consultations: We conduct detailed assessments to identify the necessity of any restrictive practices, ensuring they are only used as a last resort, are proportionate, and are authorised as per regulatory requirements.

Support and Safety Plans: Developed during the initial engagement phase, these plans outline strategies to ensure the participant's safety and well-being.

Emergency and Disaster Plans: We ensure participants are equipped with clear plans to navigate emergencies and disasters, prioritising their safety and continuity of care.

Training and Implementation: We provide training for families, carers, and support staff to effectively implement strategies outlined in the BSPs.

Data Collection and Ongoing Review: Continuous monitoring and analysis to track progress and make informed adjustments to support strategies.

Our Regulatory Responsibilities:

As a registered NDIS provider, CRAMLI ensures compliance with strict timelines and reporting obligations:

  • Interim Behaviour Support Plans: Must be developed, submitted on PRODA, and authorised within 28 days.
  • Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans: Must be completed and submitted within 5 months after the Interim BSP is authorised.

We are dedicated to upholding the NDIS’s goal of reducing and eliminating the use of restrictive practices. All interventions and practices are documented and reported to ensure transparency and accountability.

Understanding Restrictive Practices

A restrictive practice is an intervention that limits a person's rights or freedom of movement, typically used in situations where a person's behaviour poses a risk to themselves or others.

An Introduction to PBS

Behaviour support is a person-centred approach that aims to improve quality of life and reduce challenging behaviours through evidence-based strategies, focusing on understanding and addressing the underlying causes of behaviour.

Our expertise in this field has been further enhanced by our recent achievement of a MicroCertificate from the University of Melbourne in Forensic Disability Practice. This certification strengthens our commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred services that address complex behavioural and psychological needs.

Through ongoing professional development and advanced training, we continue to lead the way in supporting individuals with forensic and disability-related challenges.

CRAMLI Australia Pty. Ltd. promotes cultural diversity in the workplace and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original inhabitants of Australia and recognizes these unique cultures as part of the cultural heritage of all Australians.
