Supervision is used in counselling, psychotherapy, and other mental health disciplines as well as many other professions engaged in working with people. Supervision may be applied as well to practitioners in somatic disciplines for their preparatory work for patients as well as collateral with patients.
One-to-one supervision is offered to those wishing to develop their practice such as professional counsellors and psychologists, or those who are working towards accreditation with a relevant professional body such as trainee therapists. Supervision allows time to explore issues and reflect on challenges in depth, to help develop effective ways to deal with them.
Group supervision allows opportunity for an exchange of experiences in a supportive, non-judgemental environment that is facilitated by an accredited psychologist. Group supervision can be useful for teams to deepen reflection of their practice whilst developing skills.
